Embraer, a prominent aircraft manufacturer headquartered in Brazil, is renowned for its production of commercial aircraft, notably the Embraer ERJ and E-jet families. The company also specializes in creating aircraft for the private aviation sector.
Embraer initiated its aircraft production in the 1970s, but it wasn't until 2000 that the company ventured into the private sector with the unveiling of the Legacy 600 at the Farnborough Airshow. Since that pivotal moment, Embraer has developed a diverse lineup of aircraft, catering to various market segments, including the compact Phenom jets, the midrange Legacy (now known as Praetor) jets, and culminating with the expansive Lineage 1000.
This guide explores the characteristics of a select number of the most widely produced jets.

The company Embrare has released an upgraded version of the Phenom model, ensuring increased space for additional passengers while maintaining high-quality standards.
The Phenom 300 was developed in response to customer demands for a larger and longer aircraft compared to the highly successful Phenom 100 in the early 2000s. Initially, the manufacturer considered simply extending the cabin of the seven-seat Phenom 100; however, they ultimately opted for a completely new design. While it retains some similarities to its predecessor, the Phenom 300 boasts enhanced features, including more powerful engines, spoilers, and winglets that improve its overall control in flight. The aircraft made its maiden flight in 2008 and achieved certification by December 2009.

The Legacy 600 represented Embraer's entry into the private jet market, and it has proven to be a highly successful venture. This aircraft is derived from the Embraer ERJ series of commercial jets, specifically an evolution of the ERJ-135 model. It was introduced in the year 2000, took to the skies for its maiden flight in 2001, and received certification in 2002.
The key performance enhancements over the commercial series feature a significantly extended range (achieved with fewer passengers and extra fuel tanks), an elevated service ceiling, the addition of winglets, and minimized drag.

Positioned as midsize business jets, they accommodate up to nine passengers. Notably, they were the first in their category to feature a flat-floor, stand-up cabin design and advanced fly-by-wire flight control systems.

The Legacy 500 is an upgraded model of the Legacy 450, featuring the same design but equipped with Honeywell HTF7500E engines. Recognized as a robust mid-size jet, it can accommodate up to 12 passengers, which is three more than its predecessor, the Legacy 450. Visually distinguishing the two, the Legacy 500 boasts seven cabin windows on each side, whereas the Legacy 450 has only six.
The Legacy 500 made its debut prior to the Legacy 450. Its inaugural flight took place in November 2012, and it received certification in August 2014, which was a year ahead of the Legacy 450's certification.
Embraer has introduced the Praetor 600, which features the same design as the Legacy 500. This model represents an upgrade and rebranding initiative that debuted in 2019, and it continues to be manufactured as of 2025.
The Praetor 500 boasts an impressive range of 3,340 nautical miles (equivalent to 3,840 miles) and can reach a top speed of Mach 0.83, which is approximately 636 miles per hour.

The development of the Legacy 450 occurred concurrently with the slightly larger Legacy 500, which received certification and was introduced prior to the 450 model. The inaugural flight of the Legacy 450 took place in December 2013, and it achieved certification in August 2015.

Embraer held a competitive edge in this area due to its regional jet lineup. With the Legacy and Phenom series thriving in the business jet market, the company opted to develop a new ultra-large aircraft inspired by the Embraer 190 design. The inaugural flight of this jet took place in October 2007, followed by its initial certification in December 2008.
The jet can accommodate as many as 19 passengers. Designed from a regional jet, its cabin is notably wide and roomy, surpassing rivals like the Falcon 7X and Gulfstream G600 in space. Typically, the cabin is segmented into five distinct areas. Compared to the Embraer 190, this aircraft boasts significantly enhanced performance and range, achieved through reduced weight and the inclusion of extra fuel tanks.
Similar to many of its other aircraft, Embraer has refreshed the Lineage 1000. Introduced in 2018, the Lineage 1000E featured enhancements in in-flight entertainment and cockpit technology, such as the Honeywell Primus Epic avionics system.
A total of just 28 aircraft were manufactured, catering to various corporate and private clients, along with charter services (notable owners include Travis Scott and Tyler Perry). Production ceased in 2000, as Embraer shifted its focus toward smaller and mid-sized business jets.
