The German-based food store ALDI has announced that all 15 of their Louisiana locations will be removing certain items from their shelves as a result of a recall issued by the Food Safety Inspection Service. The ALDI Brand has made major inroads into the state in recent years adding locations such as Lafayette, New Iberia, Baton Rouge, Metairie, Bossier City, and Covington.

According to the ALDI website, the company's core values are consistency, simplicity, and responsibility. The food recall is part of the brand's willingness to be responsible to consumers and ensure that every product sold through the ALDI brand has been thoroughly vetted for safety.

One other way the ALDI brand serves its customers is by offering quality "store brand" products that boast equal or better quality than the national brands offered at other supermarkets. It's estimated that more than 90% of products sold in ALDI stores are exclusive to ALDI.

This recall from the Food Safety Inspection Service, a division of the United States Department of Agriculture affects one of those brands. The brand in question comes from Bestway Sandwiches Inc. of Valencia California. The product in question is the one pictured below.

Here is an overview of the product packaging in which the item is sold. We have provided images of both the front and back labels, allowing you to compare any products you may have stored in your freezer with the ones that have been recalled.

The product in question is the 20-oz. carton package containing “CASA MAMITA CHICKEN & CHEESE TAQUITOS,” with Best By Dates 07/03/25 and 09/25/25 on the bottom panel. The product will also have the establishment number EST. P-40327 on the carton. All of the affected products were shipped exclusively to ALDI stores across the country.

The recall is being issued because certain frozen chicken and cheese taquito items may have foreign substances, particularly metal, present in them. In response to this concern, the company has decided to pull approximately 24,870 pounds of the product from circulation as a precautionary measure. To date, there have been no significant reports of injuries or health issues linked to the consumption of these products.

The potential problem was noted when a consumer notified the Food Safety Inspection Service that a piece of metal was found in the product as it was being consumed. Another consumer reported to FSIS that they experienced a "dental injury" as a result of using the product.

For a long time, tenants at local centers avoided gyms because their patrons occupied numerous parking spots while contributing little to the businesses in the area. However, according to Svec, this trend has shifted. “Fitness brands have become a powerful force in attracting visitors to a center. This came after U.S. Department Of Labor investigations discovered that JBS’s third-party service providers employed children in dangerous jobs and during overnight shifts at the company’s facilities in Minnesota, Colorado, Iowa, and Nebraska. The agreement requires JBS to ensure that essential aspects of its supply chain, as well as third-party contractors and service providers, are held responsible for the issue of illegal child labor. Additionally, they are tasked with developing a focused advertising campaign aimed at educating the public about the dangers and prevalence of unlawful child labor practices. For decades, Diamond — which also publishes its Previews magazine showcasing upcoming titles — was instrumental in bringing comics to market and played a huge role in determining a book’s success because of how Previews influenced retailer orders. News about Diamond’s bankruptcy comes weeks after the company suddenly shuttered its flagship fulfillment center in Plattsburgh, NY, which the company’s VP of retailer services Chris Powell described as a necessary step to address longstanding operational issues that made its distribution process unsustainable. “Preferably, we would have developed and tested changes while maintaining our usual operations at Plattsburgh,” Powell stated. “Since that is no longer feasible, we are required to implement changes and trial them using real data and shipments, all while aiming to reduce the effect on retailers.” In recent years, many of Diamond’s bigger name publishing partners have dropped them as the company failed to meet expected delivery deadlines to retailers, which left stores struggling to meet customer demand. Recent studies have shown that under 10% of Americans received any education on personal finance during their schooling years. However, it appears that younger generations are more inclined to have discussions about money with their parents compared to Generation X individuals, who are currently between the ages of 45 and 60, as well as Baby Boomers aged 61 to 79. Nevertheless, Credit One Bank found that over half of Generation Z steps into adulthood without any formal training in financial literacy. “In a statement, Credit One Bank's Chief Credit Officer Steve Min highlighted, ‘This survey uncovers a significant connection between increasing concerns over personal finance and the insufficient level of fundamental financial education throughout various generations.
