Aldi Australia reintroduces the 24-piece Lou Laguiole cutlery set, now available for just $29.

One of Aldi Australia's most popular seasonal buys is set to hit the centre aisle on Wednesday - but shoppers will have to be quick if they want one.

The renowned 24-piece Lou Laguiole cutlery set is available in black, white, and oatmeal colors, and it tends to sell out within hours upon its yearly reappearance on store shelves.

The price of the set is only $29.99, which is quite remarkable for cutlery of this caliber. Consequently, it has consistently been one of the most awaited items in the collection.

The chic sets, presented in a pinewood storage tray, are available for purchase on the Lou Laguiole website for prices reaching as high as $349.

The lowest price available at other retailers is $119 on Catch, the discount shopping platform.

Each January, the sets are released, and while the colors may vary, they frequently result in long queues forming at retailers nationwide.

The supermarket, which is owned by a German company, initially introduced the cutlery set back in 2019, encouraging clever shoppers to participate in a contest by suggesting their perfect dinner companion.

Since then, budget sets have become essential purchases for those who prefer not to spend excessively on pricier alternatives.

"These are stunning," one person commented.

"I own these and I consistently receive compliments whenever I host guests," another remarked.

"Last year, I purchased two sets specifically for my dinner parties," another person remarked.

Some people cautioned that the cutlery may not perform well in the dishwasher.

"Be careful to wash these by hand only, or else the bees might come off," they warned.

Known as the 'most exquisite cutlery in the world', Lou Laguiole has consistently been in high demand.

Although it's easy to spot the dupes, the reality that Aldi offers the 'genuine article' consistently sparks conversations among shoppers.

Consequently, Aldi has issued a warning that the cutlery is expected to be sold out on the very first day due to overwhelming demand.
