Couple from Homes Under the Hammer compelled to leave their home and 'contact authorities' following shocking find at their property.

The couple featured on Homes Under the Hammer made a smart investment by purchasing a property that already had approval for a four-bedroom townhouse.

During Monday's episode of Homes Under the Hammer, a couple found themselves in disbelief after uncovering a macabre revelation. Lee and Laura purchased the Derby property for £60,000 at auction.

A remarkable opportunity presented itself when a prime residential lot, already granted planning permission for a four-bedroom townhouse, became available for purchase.

Described as "a developer's dream realized" by Homes Under the Hammer presenter Dion Dublin, he discovered a shocking truth regarding the original development of the site.

As Lee was preparing the site, he discovered a hand grenade hidden among the bushes at the back of the property, an unexpected find for the owner of a construction company.

Lee and Laura stumbled upon a horrifying find at the construction site.

"We discovered a bomb, right?" Laura remarked, prompting Dion to raise his hands in surprise and reply, "Wait, what do you mean?"

"It was really frightening," she remarked, as Lee continued to elaborate: "There was a 20-foot hedge running alongside the fence, around six feet deep, and while the guys were removing it, they stumbled upon a hand grenade."

"We had to reach out to the authorities, and the bomb disposal unit arrived shortly after. They cleared out all the residences in the area."

Following this shocking revelation to the host, the family expressed that, apart from this surprising discovery, the lot was ideal for constructing a new house.

In spite of the unexpected excitement, the family was enthusiastic about launching their construction project, enlisting their children, Amelie and Louis, to help out.

The pair purchased a piece of land.

The couple's blueprint involved constructing a three-tiered home with a budget of £170,000, which they planned to rent out to generate a steady income stream. Laura shared their vision of creating a high-spec family home, reports Derbyshire Live.

The property will feature a generous garden, a driveway equipped with electric vehicle charging stations, and a heat pump designed to reduce carbon emissions. Lee's team of eleven employees, along with a group of contractors, is responsible for making this project a reality.

Their goal was to complete the Derby property project in a timeframe of eight to ten months.

A local real estate agent estimated that once finished, the property might be available for rent at approximately £1,200 per month or could be sold for about £325,000.
