NEW YORK (AP) — Walmart has advised customers to discard a chicken broth product that was available in stores primarily in Southern states late last year.

The retailer has issued a recall for 48-ounce cartons of Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth, which were available at 242 locations across nine different states.

In December, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a recall involving more than 2,000 cases of broth, which is set to remain usable until March 2026. According to the FDA, the issue lies in the packaging, which may cause the broth to spoil prematurely. Fortunately, there have been no reported cases of illness related to this recall.

Walmart has announced that customers who bought the product from stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, or Texas should refrain from consuming the broth and can request a complete refund. The retailer mentioned that it is collaborating with the supplier to look into the matter.
