Oolitic Fire Department Volunteers

In the integration process, Oolitic will continue to be referred to as Station 8, and Marshall will keep its title as Station 6. There will be no alterations to the equipment or their placements. This strategic decision enhances the speed of response to incidents like accidents and medical emergencies, enabling both departments to deploy resources at the same time. Previously, there could be a delay of at least two minutes in response times while waiting for extra assistance from one of the departments.

Marshall Volunteer Fire and Emergency Medical Services

In the updated system, when a call is received from the Marshall area and they have enough staff to respond, Oolitic can stay on standby for other urgent situations. On the other hand, if a call occurs in Oolitic and they have sufficient personnel, Marshall will be ready to take on more calls.

Valerie Luchauer

Valerie Luchauer, the Emergency Management Director, stated, “The rise in run volume and the presence of volunteers influenced the choice to merge. Emergency Management highlights that the primary objective is to serve the communities as effectively as possible, ensuring that both departments can respond to emergencies efficiently while maintaining high service standards.”

There have been no alterations to the names as a result of the merger, enabling each department to maintain its unique identity while fostering improved cooperation for the safety of the community.
