Mazda Spirit Racing has unveiled the CX-60 Rally Concept, featuring a sporty rear spoiler and lightweight carbon Recaro seats.

The CX-60 Rally draws its inspiration from tarmac rally vehicles; however, it remains uncertain whether it will enter production.

Mazda chose the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025 to introduce the first production model from their new Mazda Spirit Racing sub-brand, which is no other than the iconic MX-5. However, the latest hot version of the roadster was joined by another Mazda Spirit Racing model that went largely unnoticed.

The Mazda CX-60 Rally concept adds several exterior and interior upgrades to the midsize SUV to evoke sportiness, taking inspiration from the tarmac setup of rally cars.

The most eye-catching features include a large rear spoiler and a roof-mounted scoop, both adorned in black. This concept also showcases bespoke front and rear skid plates, dark accents, Mazda Spirit Racing logos on the grille, and four tailpipes at the rear.

The bodywork is covered by a matte wrap featuring light gray graphics and Mazda Spirit Racing lettering, together with contrasting orange stripes on the front fenders.

Inside, the carbon bucket seats by Recaro with six-point harnesses and the roll cage would look more at home to a track-focused supercar than a family SUV. In any case, Mazda threw in some Alcantara inserts next to the black leather upholstery.

The CX-60 Rally rides on a new set of black 20-inch alloy wheels with a ten-spoke design. Mazda didn’t mention any suspension tweaks, but the SUV appears to sit closer to the ground. The automaker has also upgraded the braking system with six-piston calipers.

While a rally-themed concept could use a power boost, the CX-60 retains the stock mild-hybrid six-cylinder turbodiesel. The 3.3-liter SkyActiv-D engine generates 251 hp (187 kW / 254 PS) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque, sending power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The SUV is the latest model to undergo the Mazda Spirit Racing transformation, joining the ranks of the Mazda3 and the MX-5. It is yet to be determined whether the rally-inspired concept will lead to a production version of the Mazda CX-60.
