After a facelift for the 2016 model year that brought cosmetic changes, an all-new second-generation GMC Terrain landed in 2017. Smaller than before, the new Terrain dropped its previous powertrain lineup for a trio of turbocharged four-cylinder mills, including a diesel. An off-road-themed AT4 joined the Terrain lineup during a mid-cycle refresh in 2022 and a new third-generation GMC Terrain is on the horizon for 2025.

To cap second-gen production, GMC Terrain models were updated for the 2022 model year with a freshened face and rear end including redesigned exterior lighting and more exterior color choices. The 2.0L inline-four and turbodiesel engines were both dropped, but a new AT4 variant was added to the lineup.

Designed for off-road adventures, the Terrain AT4 models feature striking black 17-inch wheels equipped with Goodyear Sport Terrain tires, a robust steel front skid plate, and a Traction Select System that includes an Off-Road driving mode. The upcoming third-generation Terrain is set to debut in the 2025 model year.

2018-2021 GMC Terrain 第二代

For the second generation, the all-new 2018 GMC Terrain shrunk by three inches in overall length and five inches in wheelbase, but key cabin measurements like back seat legroom and maximum cargo capacity remained nearly identical.

GMC has experienced significant growth over the last ten years, largely thanks to the Terrain. The completely redesigned Terrain capitalizes on this success by utilizing GMC's established expertise in premium SUVs to disrupt the largest vehicle segment, combining outstanding design, practicality, and engineering brilliance.

- Duncan Aldred, who has served as the vice president of global GMC Sales and Marketing since 2017.

In addition to its refreshed design, the 2018 Terrain offered a selection of three turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The two gasoline engines were combined with a nine-speed automatic transmission, whereas the turbodiesel variant, boasting 240 lb-ft of torque and an impressive highway fuel efficiency of 38 mpg, was equipped with a six-speed gearbox.

2010-2015 GMC Terrain 第一代

The GMC Terrain was produced from 2010 to 2015, representing its first generation. It effectively took the place of the Pontiac Torrent and adhered to GM's badge engineering strategy, utilizing the Chevrolet Equinox as its base model.

The Terrain builds upon the foundation we established with the Acadia, incorporating the unique design elements and features that are hallmarks of GMC's heritage into more compact, fuel-efficient models that today's consumers desire in a fast-evolving marketplace.

- Susan Docherty, Vice President and General Manager for North America (2009)

Out of the gate, the Terrain was offered with front- or all-wheel drive and the choice of an 182-horsepower 2.4L inline-four or a 3.0L V6 with 264 hp. That V6 was upgraded to a 3.6L mill in 2013 with 301 hp and a six-speed automatic, the same year the luxurious Terrain Denali arrived.
