Ruben Amorim has revealed when he will offer clarity on his future as he continues to be heavily linked with replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

Mail Sport understands United have agreed to pay Sporting Lisbon £9.2m for the services of Amorim and two of his assistants, while Ineos director Sir Dave Brailsford appeared to claim the deal was 'done' when he greeted fans outside Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Amorim is expected to join United during the November international break once he has served his notice period at Sporting, but an official announcement is yet to be made.

Sporting are back in action on Friday night, and Amorim told the assembled media at his pre-match press conference that he will address his future after the game.

'I'll leave it until the end of the game,' he said. 'I'll talk about all these issues. Everything will be clearer.

'Talking now is just another destabilisation for the squad. The focus at the moment is Estrela da Amadora.

'It's a negotiation between two clubs. It's never easy. Even with the clauses, it's never easy, they have to talk, and we will have clarification after the game, It will be very clear. So it's one more day after the game tomorrow, we will have a decision made.'

Amorim's potential exit has not gone down well in Portugal, with Sporting's ex-vice-president Dias Ferreira claiming it would be a 'betrayal' if he leaves.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager has also been branded a 'traitor', while there have also been reports that Sporting's players are furious that their manager looks set to jump ship mid-season.

Amorim admitted speculation over his future has caused unease within the squad, but denied that his players have turned against him.

'I felt the players were different in the talk. I could have said that the atmosphere was good and that nobody reads the news, but I know that the players feel anxious,' he added.

'There was no revolt at all. There were revolts when I arrived here. I know my players and I am honest with you when I say that they were not normal. I could see that they were nervous and anxious about the news, with a series of difficult games coming up.

'There was no revolt and I did not need [Sporting captain] Morten [Hjulmand] to hold his teammates back.'

Despite failing to clarify his future, Amorim is expected to stay at Sporting for three more matches to see the club through to next month's international break.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is also likely to oversee the same number of games for United before being replaced at the helm by Amorim.

Van Nistelrooy won his opening game in interim charge on Wednesday as United thrashed Leicester 5-2 in the Carabao Cup, and he has expressed his desire to remain at United if Amorim takes over to help the new manager turn things around at Old Trafford.
