O2 customers have been alerted that a crucial service will be discontinued this month.

The leading mobile phone provider has announced that it will discontinue its Pay-As-You-Go (PAYC) Mobile Broadband and iPad services by the end of January.

The Data SIM cards provided customers with a range of plan options, enabling them to use mobile data for internet access on their iPads.

This allowed customers to access the internet on the go without relying on broadband, giving them the flexibility to select their preferred data allowance and duration of use.

The mobile service provider stopped offering its PAYG Mobile broadband and iPad SIMs in August of the previous year. However, customers who had already acquired these products were still able to use them without interruption.

However, O2 has now notified its customers that the service will cease on January 31, just a few months after it stopped selling the SIMs to new users.

In an email to customers, O2 said: “We’re sorry to let you know that we’re removing our Pay As You Go Mobile Broadband & iPad services from our portfolio on 31 January 2025. You can continue to use your service until 31 January 2025, after which time your service shall cease.

"As a Pay As You Go customer, you have the flexibility to cancel your service whenever you wish, without incurring any Early Termination Fees."

“To request a refund for any unused data on your account, please contact O2 customer service at 0344 8090222. Make sure to provide your contact information so we can assist you with your refund request.”

Customers who purchased a PAYG Mobile Broadband SIM can return it to receive a complete refund. Additionally, if you're seeking a refund for any unused data on your account, you can reach out to O2 customer service at 0344 809 0222.

Customers wishing to continue using the O2 network will need to transition to a monthly payment contracted data SIM plan.
