Walmart's "brand refresh" has left many people online underwhelmed.

The retail giant announced on Monday they redesigned its famous yellow emblem on a blue background. The updated logo is a thicker rendition of the figure designed to resemble Walmart founder Sam Walton’s “classic trucker hat.” Refreshing the wordmark in a contemporary font is meant to “differentiate Walmart from the crowd.”

However, online reactions to the new logo appear to be lukewarm, as it closely resembles the old design with only slight modifications. "Walmart has revamped its brand logo/image. I can only imagine the fees the graphic designer raked in for this so-called 'refresh,'" one user humorously commented on X.

"Walmart revamped their logo, and here's a comparison of the old and new designs. I can't believe someone actually got compensated for this," remarked an astonished X user.

"It's somewhat improved and has a bit more vibrancy, yet I can't help but long for the classic Walmart logo from the early 2000s, especially with that cheerful smiley face," a nostalgic individual reflected.

"Although our brand's aesthetic is more modern, our updated brand identity embodies Walmart’s lasting dedication to Sam’s values and our promise to meet our customers’ needs in every way possible," stated William White, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Walmart U.S.

"As our customers progress, we will adapt as well. Our Walmart will forever be their Walmart, and our brand will continually reflect our commitment to innovation and transformation in tandem with their needs," he remarked.

Walmart has recently issued a recall of over 12,000 cartons of chicken broth from two states due to worries about potential issues with the product's packaging. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the affected item is the Great Value Chicken Broth sold in 48-ounce cartons.

The recall was initiated on Dec. 11, but the notice was published on the FDA's website on Jan. 8. The recalled cartons were sent to stores in Alabama and Arkansas, the FDA said, but Walmart said in a statement that a total of 242 stores in nine states were impacted. Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas were the other states.
